We’re always grateful for the people who support The Sound of the Streets, and today we want to give a special shoutout to Emma—a local mum who turned her everyday walks into something much more.

👣 A Simple Idea, A Real Impact

In her final month of maternity leave, Emma set herself a challenge: walk 10,000 steps every day throughout March.

By the end of the month, she’d raised £385 for The Sound of the Streets, going well over her original £100 goal.

🎵 Why It Matters

Fundraising like Emma’s helps us do more of what we love—bringing free live music and creative workshops to communities. We rely on grants to cover some costs, but grassroots support like this keeps things moving and growing.

Every bit raised goes directly into making our events accessible, welcoming and full of life.

Thinking About Fundraising?

You don’t need a big plan or loads of spare time to help out. Emma used what she already had as a way to get involved.

Here are a few ideas if you’re considering it yourself:

  • Set a goal that fits around your day-to-day life.

  • Pick something you enjoy—walking, cycling, cooking, crafting—whatever works.

  • Share what you’re doing with friends and family. People are usually happy to chip in when they see you’re doing something genuine.

🙌 Thanks, Emma

Emma, thanks for choosing to support us—it really means a lot.

And if you’re reading this and wondering whether your own small idea could make a difference… it probably can.
